though, although
这两个词都可表示“虽然”。它们的区别是：
1.although的语气较重,引导的句子常指事实; though引导的句子可表示假设。
2.though可以引起从句的主语和谓语部分倒装，而although不可。
3.although只用作连词; 而though除用作连词外,还可用作副词。另外，though可用作并列连词，也可用作从属连词；而although只能用作从属连词。
4.though可用于even though, as though, what though等结构; 而although不能。

although与though在意义上相似，但文体上是比较正式用词，语气比though强。

语法分析
不要将汉语中的“虽然…但是…”直译为thought…but。
因为在英语中though和but都是从属连词，如果同时使用了那么这个句子就没有主句了，所以只能用一个，确保一个主句和一个从句构成完整的主从复合句。
